impreza 2.5 conversion
Discussion
My mates just blown the engine on his STI type R and is having the engine replaced with a 2.5. Apparantly they make more torque but the 2.0litre closed deck engine is much better for power and reliability.
He gets it back next week so i'll post details on how its running, power increase etc

Yep, I would say these are a good way to go, particularly for a road car.
We have a 2.5 conversion in our demo car which was built by enginetuner.co.uk and it is brilliant.
Standard heads, cams etc from a 96 WRX, new 2.5 bottom end and a Simtek ECU. Shed loads of torque and still strong up at the top end (recent rolling road session saw 329bhp and 340lb ft of torque at just 0.9 bar!).
Combined with an all up weight of 900kgs for the demo car it makes for interesting performance!!
Neil.
