Anyone heard of this happening before. I now have a pulley wheel, who's middle has been ripped out.
anyone know how it could happen.
Could a new fan belt that was overtight cause this, along with a kink in the pipe going from the pump to the steering rack, causing additional pressure on the pump. SEems incredible that the pulley wheel could get twisted and sheered off its mounting bolts.

Reckon something wasn't lined up straight, putting undue stress on the pulley wheel. Had the same thing happen on a moggie minor clutch plate once (but that's another story) Have you had any belts off/replaced recently?

Can't offer much practical advice though, I've got the Arnie model with no pas!

Maybe there is something wrong with the pump, got jammed for whatever reason and the belt did the rest? Overtightening a belt could not do it.
