TVRCC N.Wales , Evo, Top Gear and Driven
Discussion
Why is it that every magazine I open and every programme I watch recently seems to have TVRs featured somewhere, and nearly every review (Top Gear this month T350, EVO last month) seems to be tried, tested and photographed in North Wales.
There must be a reason for this?
The answers simple, not only do we have some of the finest scenery in the World (as Tiff confirmed in TG), but we also has some of the quietest roads in world.
I've decide that ALL (safe) TVR drivers should take note of what EVO, Top Gear, Driven and 5th Gear are doing and come to North Wales on Sunday 6th July @ 12noon, for the first ever TVRCC North Wales meeting.
Go on treat your TVR ... it deserves better!!!

Well. The Scenery in North Wales is really good. Not as good as the Highlands of Scotland but a lot closer to London so journos are a bit more willing to make the journey. It IS true that some of the roads in North Wales are truly magnificent - and are also patrolled by North Wales finest on a tediously regular basis.
I LOVE North Wales. I was born there. I grew up there. My parents still live there. TVR drivers - please do go and enjoy yourselves...but on no account give plod the satisfaction of issuing you with a ticket...because its all too likely if you aren't vigilant.
Simon....there is a faint possibility that I may make it along in our Chimaera as I might be able to include it in plans to drop in on my folks.
More details on where, when, etc, please...

..
like yourself I LOVE North Wales. I was born there. I grew up there. My parents lived there. and once you get off the tourist routes there are some particularly challenging roads
I recall that the Chief Constable of North Wales - luckily I can't remember his name - is to 'speeders' what Adolf Hitler was to Jews. His game plan was/is to jump on the 'speedkills' bandwagon and get lots of promotion, big pension etc....

I've been out in my TVR every week pretty much, for the last 2 years and have never been stopped by the police.
There are no speed camera's anywhere along the A5 or through Snowdonia, which is probably why so many of the motoring jouralist come here.
Anyway, if anyone is interested in coming to north Wales we have our first ever North Wales meet on Sunday 6th July @ 12noon in Conwy , behind the Castle at the back of Bilingtons Garage.
For any further information, please e-mail me and I can provide a map.

I am delighted to hear it...

Apart from the mobile ones which is why I have three points on my licence....

Most certainly interested....I'll have a chat with the wife and see if she's game for a long drive up...I'd love to support TVRCC North Wales...especially if it becomes a success and can invite TVRCC member from around the country to enjoy a few weekends in the fabulous country I know...
Best of luck with it Simon - whether I make it ir not. Come on PHers...if you are in travelling distance make the meet a success, eh?
I organised a Staffs TVRCC 'Fish & Chip Run', from our meet in Stone, to Conway.
I'd second all the positive feedback about the wonderful scenery and fatastic roads, and also the caution about plod. Their #1 target is bikes, but I guess Blackpools finest is as good a target as any.
Horseshoe Pass is nice, but normally cluttered with Numpties, but Nant-y-Garth pass is another corker of a road that's a little less used by the mobile chicanes.
Edited to add that regettably I can't make the meet on the 6th, but best of luck with it and I hope you have a hoot!

Come on angusfaldo calm down. I decided not to post after finston's rash comment. But he might have been having a bad day or some such reason...and be regretting it even now. We all say/type the odd thing we might have said better after five minutes of deep breathing.
Whatever - its best forgotten quickly.
I know we (on PH at least) have great regard for our BiB compatriots who frequent these parts and I know not one of them would rise to such bait...confident in the knowledge that they have the support of the more silent majority...although tempered with the fact that we may strongly critisise the decisions of their political masters when it comes to transport and road safety policy.
Most of us understand that if we push the limits on the road then if we are caught then its our problem not the Traffic guy who happened to be on watch at the time...
So lets not make this thread about an inaugural meeting of TVRCC North Wales need deleting eh? I'm sorry I pointed out that I thought that Speed Enforcement in North Wales seems a bit draconian - its just my opinion and I don't want people to think that North Wales or its Police Force are bad because of it.
Sorry.
And finston: calm it down a bit eh? We're a respectable, law abiding, police supporting lot on here, by and large, even if we do enjoy the odd blast at speeds that might be technically not allowed.

Hey Don, I'm calm, calm as can be. I shouldn't rise to it, but I have plenty of personal contact with Traffic through the TVRCC (one of the advantages of being an RO I guess). These kind of rash comments are tantamount to those broad-brush sweeping statements you hear from the great unwashed like "all scousers are car thieves".
It is unnecessary and offensive and shows the poster up to be an ignorant moron.
Box of soap now back in the cupboard.

I feel that the point of my inital topic, has somewhat digressed into an obviously sensitive subject.
The actual point I was trying to make was purely, to say what a great drive it is through North Wales and to invite/ encourage other TVR drivers to attend the first ever North Wales Meeting.

Whooa!! No need to bin the thread!
This is PistonHeads - 'Speed Matters' - not a Police appreciation website, and I can understand why people get rather uptight about the role of plod in this country's ridiculously draconian victimisation of the motorist. That said, a bit of tact and subtlety wouldn't go amiss, and we certainly shouldn;t encourage plod bashing.
In any event, with speed comes responsibility, and in truth only idiots would drive absolutely ten tenths on the road - there's nothing to prove, save it for the track.
Back onto topic, and I wish you the very best of luck getting the TVRCC North Wales going. I'm sure there'll eventually be plenty of support although from my own experiences with the Staffs area, it's can be very hard worl at times!
North Wales is only a hop-skip-and-jump from Staffs, so we should perhaps try and link up sometime and I'll certainly remind Staffs members about the meet.
