My wife bought a new Nissan X-Trail in Nov 2004. At first service in April 05 corrosion on wheels was noted and reported to dealer in writing. In my ignorance I thought car had three year warranty.Coming up to end of warranty with even more corrosion on wheels thought dealer and manufacturer would replace. Only offered to refurbish. First set of wheels from Kent(they have the contract and I live in Newcastle) the bubble wrap had stuck to them! The second set was damaged in the fitting by windy gun and also fitting of tyres removed laquer and paint down to original. Nissan U.K. (the call centre is in Hungary) says that this is not a warranty issue even after eight months. The dealer got an outside agency to refurbish wheels on car. Have no confidence that they will last past a tyre change or even the winter. Tried on six occasions to get through to Nissan warranty dept. Not such a department. Asked customer services(the only people I could talk to) to guarantee refurbished wheels from date of refurbishment for three years and they wouldn't entertain it. So. Spend nearly £23,000 have corrodded alloys after eight months and have them refurbished until warranty runs out. Any thoughts?

Hmm - this seems to be an issue that Nissan are really suffering with: the Rays on the 350Z's also have an appalling reputation for bubbling etc. I wonder if they are just hoping it will go away....

My 2006 WRX wheels are also bubbling.
I think they paint wheels now instead of powder coating, that may be the problem.

When i mentioned it to my dealer he said that because my wife had kirbed 2 of the wheels that he did not think Subaru would entertain it.
Even thou the damage is on the rim of the wheel and the bubbling is in the centre no where near the damage.
He did offer to try and miss out the damage when photographing the wheels.

Fingers crossed!

My last Subaru also had is alloys changed due to the tyres always going flat.
This was due to the alloy being porous.
I would not offer a warranty if i was them.
They dont know how good the alloy material is.
