has anyone ever changed the diff front oil seal without dropping the diff ,as i have a leak coming from the nose end of my chims diff ,looking at the paperwork its been leaking for about two years now but i think ill do it as its a sod to keep topping up, and before anybody says take it to a dealer ,forget it , its a 94 4.0 with 60k any info will be a help thanks...

Not sure how it is done, but it can be done with the diff in!!, Mine needs doing and I asked the garage if it could be done in situ as I had the diff out and couldn't be arsed to do it so put it back in.
If that makes any sense!!!

Bit tricky.. Depends on which diff you have and there is usually some preload to set which if you get wrong either kills the diff or means that you through the new seal away and start again.

Not sure what pre-load setting is involved with changing a pinion oil seal but never done a TVR? Other than doing the pinion nut up to the right torque I cannot see what else there could be to do. Getting the flange off can be a bit of a sod sometimes, not sure about in situ bit.

Must be a good time to drop in that old transmission joke, must be a matter of a pinion

thanks paul i'll give you a bell when i'm ready...is the diff the same as fitted to the sierra cosworth ..
