I was just scanning the walls of my TVR infested Bedroom and noticed a gap, just over there between the griff, and the SEAC posters. A space just big enough for a Pistonheads.com Calender of 2002! What d'ya say Ted? Any Chance? You've got the pictures and you could enter the stuff that's on the calender on the site!!! Easy!

Also, what about those Window Stickers?? Got a nice empty space on my back window that needs filling!

Ted, i've written this here cos i didn't want to start Another thread! Too many from me already.

But I'm getting tired (Not late night tired), I'm tired of the same old tit-for-tat crap that people find so necessary to share with everyone else! Now, don't get me wrong, this is the best site on the www in my opinion! Fantastic, prime example is the Guy looking for help buying the wedge, sooo many people offering good, honest advice, what to look out for, where to look, what to avoid yada yada yada. But, it's these people, who also offer good advice, but find it impossible not to say, "My Porsche is quicker than your TVR" etc. At every given opportunity, in every possible thread! Good for bloody them! I'm not saying you should ban them, but, is it not possible to try and Curb it slightly?? To me, as a TVR fan, I won't go and buy one cos it'll top 155 in a straight line and it'll beat every porsche this side of a 911, no, i'll buy it cos of it's uniqueness, style, noise etc. What is it about this bitchyness all of a sudden!! I remember one of the very first threads i read on this site, It was F*ckin hilarious!! I nearly wet myself, it was the Horse and Hound one! Sheer class!! Wheres it all gone?? Why the transition from Humour to bitchy?? Whats it's purpose?? Wheres the need?? Just, WHY??

Rant over!

Sorry it's so long!!

Just to reply to 'tvraddict' and make a suggestion...
Similar to news readers, it would be nice to add a 'ignore thread' option to the gassing station, and (wildly guessing here) not to hard given the cookie code is already there to track the last read post in a thread...
Ted?

And to add another (harder) suggestion...
The ability to 'kill file' posters that annoy you so their posts don't appear.
Tetchy, but it might help avoid the repeated same-protagonist bitchiness which recurs since they will hopefully kill-file each other and then not feel the need to respond again and again...

Its not as if you need sleep or anything...

I'll give it some thought. I've not been on the GS much in the last few days and agree that it's got a bit out of hand.

I'd rather the community regulate itself than introduce technical solutions (besides, it would take me a month to get it right ).

Time to get the big stick out

Got to admit to being as guilty as everyone else on the "my cars better than your car" front (though I have just recommended a Griffith in one thread-must be getting old ) but tvradict's right. Time for a truce (but can we carry on slagging off SUVs please ?).

Oh, and Ted, please can you kill the threads about "afterburners" (whatever they may be.) If the situation's as bad as Owain says then it's time for a solicitors letter. If it's not then Clive & Owain need to talk to each other. An open public forum is not the time or the place in my view.

I would assume that Owain is using this Forum as a method of 'speeding up' his delivery of the said afterburners by showing us all that the company he is dealing with are not doing what they say they will and as such it will dissaude us to purchase anything from them. Negative publicity and such.. So I don`t think it should be banned, as the company in question advertise on this site and have the right and opportunity to address this.

This is becoming an increasingly complex issue for me to manage. I'm having to take a view on all 'issues' such as this.

I'm also left with a moral dilemma when it comes to advertisers on here being slagged off. I don't want to censor discussions because people should be made aware of poor service. On the other hand dubious comments (not referring to the example you gave) cause grief for the advertisers and discourage some from returning.

Advertising is what keeps this site alive - if I don't protect my advertisers interests this site won't survive. They don't all read this section of the site so although the opportunity to reply is there it doesn't mean that they are aware they need to protect their reputation.

I'd far rather people sorted their problems out throught more traditional/conventional channels rather than go down the name and shame route on PistonHeads.

Sadly I will have to be more brutal when it comes to culling threads because I can't afford not to.

The thread about paying for PistonHeads raised some interesting ideas. I'm not after money from readers, all I do ask is that the medium is respected - you're here by invitation - this isn't a 'public' forum in the strictest sense of the word. Please be sensitive to the setup we've got here and things will go from strength to strength. Push the boundaries and I'll spend all my time moderating and none improving the site.

Braindump over

In my opinion, posting things on the GS about company's shouldn't be done without prior discussion with said company by other means (unless it's Petrolheads.ltd ) even then it should only be done if absolutely necessary, how many are??

Any one remember the guy complaining about a certain maker of aluminium products for TVR's? He hadn't even spoken to them first!! That could have been dodgy!!! It would have caused alot of problems for Ted!! These things, IMHO, shouldn't be broadcast on here! Would you post an article in a national paper? no, i think not!!

Going back a bit sorry, Ted we all know you have probs moderating 24/7 and understandably but what happened to the idea about giving a few trusted individuals the ability to moderate as discussed a few months ago I'd only suggest 3 or 4 maybe but we all know who the same old names are and out of those the ones that could be relied on and be mature enough to be objective about their moderation. That could maybe leave Ted to be the "supreme being" or "court of appeal" Remember the fact that as you get bigger you have to delegate more and become more remote having an overview of whats going on and stearing this beast you've created forward may be the way ahead ?

Anyway after that I just want to say have a great xmas, (no posting on xmas day have a day off!) and after today I won't be about for a month or so as I'm off to sunnier clims in the southern seas for a break so I haven't jumped ship just gone on holiday. To all the regulars and visitors have a good one and I'll be back end of Jan bye.
