Arse. Had a huge post written then it disappeared. Anyway to upsum, I have a totally standard 5.7VXR, was in Picadors yesterday and heard a couple of VXR8's as they should be. Been looking at exhaust options anyway, so I'm very likely going to get the wortec exhaust & remap done. Quite a bit of cash obviously but hey, it's nearly xmas
Anyone going to talk me out of it? Any comments from those with the 5.7VXRs specifically?

your fuel consuption will go up dramatically........as you search for the next tunnel/stretch of straight quiet road so you can open up the throttle properly and hear the glorious sound of the V8 "as it should be"!!
I think it's pretty well documented on here - YOU WILL LOVE IT!

Actually if you drive nicely economy should be improved due to less restriction and more optimal timing.

Marginally, but i have found because of the sound and extra power you end up "flooring it" more often, therefore negating any MPG increases. But thats just me!

Excuse the rubbish rushed opening post, but yep I know I'll be loving the sound. I've spent several hours reading all the posts with the word "exhaust" in them, plainly there's plenty of knowledge & enthusiasm on here
A few questions though:
* Quiet or Loud? It's a daily driver so will it be liveable with on the daily commute and motorway trips? I'd go for the loud version, but it's described as the "NASCAR" sound - if that means it's a bit raw & raspy then I'm not so sure. I had also read that it can drone at motorway speeds due to the 5.7 VXR rear bumper.
* Being the 5.7 VXR, there is no electonic switchable version, however I believe it's manually swappable. Is this something that can be done with a spanner or two on the driveway, in reality?
* Is the wortec the only real option? I've looked at custom stuff that's quite a bit cheaper, but I get the feeling the wortec is well regarded on here and worth the extra cost.

Just want to make sure I'm not going to regret splashing out nearly 2 grand

Mate - just do it. Forget the fuel economy - think about the noise.....

You need it - you know you do.....

Think about the noise......

and btw - with the remap you get much better throttle response which is a real bonus (and think about the noise)....

Posted my last note as you were posting this one....

I run Loud all the time. The Quiet (ha!) is what I'd describe as a TVR like sound. Traditional deep V8. In Loud (I call the Quiet setting Loud, and the Loud setting 'Stupidly Loud') - so in SL mode, it has a raspy edge to it, and more volume. Sounds more like a Ferrari tbh - I really prefer it on SL and have it set to that for 99% of the time (I've got the electronic version with the switch) and only really change to quiet when I'm leaving home early.

Mine is a 6.0L so may be slightly different, but on the motorway there is absolutely no drone or real encroachment in the cabin. Really excellent.

You really won't regret it - and I'd go for Loud permanently!! Think of the noise!

Ditto what biker steve says. Used the quiet setting once after a german cop pulled in behind me and a mate in a silly RS6 after we had been playing... apart from that, loud is proud! You will love it.

Yep, loud is the only way to go if you get a Wortec. It doesn't drone on the motorway and makes lots of lovely pops and bangs on the overrun if you get a blower

As good as the Wortec is I think I'd also look at the difillipo system if I were to do it all over again, it's cheaper but still well made.

Best to call the sponsors. I saw them advertised down to £250 a while back. Mind you WRC went bust not long after..
You can also roll your own if you are so minded. hpt or efilive etc. The kits are around £300 depending on what year ECU you have.
Either way somewhere around that level.
