p38 starting problem
Discussion
hi i have problem starting my 2.5 dse when it gets below a quarter tank of fuel. i was told to fit a none return just before filter which made no change. but would of thought that would be better fit near the fuel tank. if fuel returning down feed line you would think it would do all the time. can any help thanks jeremy
Hi Jeremy,
First be sure to have checked the fuel line for leaks or any signs of them dragging in air. On the 38a there is a clear fuel pipe between the filter head and the inj pump, so its easy to spot.
LR dealers did a fix for this problem by fitting a one way valve in this pipe.It did help the hot starting problems on some cars but made no difference to others.
The real fault is a low pressure in the fuel transfer pump at the rear of the injector pump.
The only real answer is to get your pump repaired and this will sort the fault.
Hope this helps
Cheers
