Check the pump relay is working 1st.Situated on the front of the fuse box, behind the drivers seat under the 'cubby box'.

I know TM Motors in West Molesey can deal with this as a friend had a similar problem with his SLK32AMG. Just felt like it had lost power.

Otherwise, I personally can recommend Prestige Car Service in Portsmouth (piss-easy to get to once you're on the A3). www.prestigecarservice.co.uk

I had exactly this problem whilst driving in Spain earlier this year. Seems to be a very common problem, and only found out when driving in hot conditions. I can't tell you how much the fix is as mine was done under warranty, but don't take any bullshit from your dealer. I was fobbed off with a denial through lack of knowledge of the problem, so I e-mailed AMG with a description of the symptoms, and they quickly mailed back to say it was definitely the intercooler coolant pump failing. It's a like-for-like swap, so take it to a reputable indie if there's no warranty/servicing issues.

Mike, give Oliver at Prestige a call. He knows a LOT about Mercedes cars and AMGs.

Also, join http://forums.mercedesclub.org.uk/. There's a guy called Television who also knows a lot about these cars.

I'd watch him! hehe

There is an uprated pump available - see this thread on MB forums. Renntech do IC pumps, as do the mentioned Johnson - both in USA.

Similar problem discussed on another thread
