Can anyone help (2004cv8) not sure what it is but on tickovr there is a noise/knocking from middle of the car when I press the clutch pedel it stops would it be the thrust bearing?? anyone else had this?.
When stationary ?Stick the car into 4th gear and see if the noise goes away ( foot still on the clutch pedal of course ).
If a noise still exists, it could be the release bearing.
If the noise goes away....you may have gearbox issues.
With foot off the clutch, car stationary, not in gear.
The gearbox internals are still spinning. If ok, they should be near enough silent if all is ok. If there is a noise, its looking like a box problem..
With foot on the clutch not in gear.
Generally speaking, the gears inside shouldnt be spinning, so it should be quiet.
The clutch release bearing is also loaded up, but if ok, this too will be quiet.

Nothing inside the gearbox will be spinning, so there should be no noise at all.. If there is a noise, it could be the clutch release bearing, as its the only part that will be spinning.
So it is sounding a little like you might have gearbox issues.
