They make so much noise when the clutch is not pressed you can hardly hear anthing else!

No real way to do it. You could get a set of double helicals machined up. It would be quiet but very expensive. How about semi helical drops?
You could probably use a really heavy flywheel, like one off a 1300GT and that woulkd iron out the pulses and make it smoother.
Failing that, bung some earplugs in like the rest of us.
