I've been searching for a classic mini for some time now and it seems I might have found one although I could do with a little advice as to how much it's worth.
A garage local to my parents has a 1999(V) classic cooper (non Sportspack). Its totally standard and in mint condition with only 20,000 miles from new. I've not been inside the car yet but having a look around in all the normal places I couldnt find any rust. It has the leather interior which also looks in top condition.
Assuming that the enigine is in as good condition as the rest of the car how much is this worth? I think he garage wants about 5K which to me sounds a little steep.
I would be greatfull for any help.

IMHO I wouldn't pay any more than £3.5k for it unless its absolutely perfect and your happy with spending that sort of money. I used to work in a specialists working in minis and i've seen a couple of MPI coopers go for £2200-2800 and two Paul Smiths for £2500 each, although those were all bargains. Depends on how long and hard you look. Late model MPI's tend to demand a lot higher price, have you considered an earlier model?

Of course the true value is dependent on the condition of the vehicle so if it is as good as you say then maybe it is worth it.

Hope this helps

I've had a look at quite a few minis and this one is in by far the best condition. Its interesting to know that some Paul Smiths have sold for that amount as I quite like them. I think my search will continue although if its still there I may end up coming back to it!
