I've just spent an hour looking through the old threads for information on the 350i radiator. Mine is weeping and I wooul dlike to replace it. According to the various threads it is a) Freight Rover, b) Land Rover c)Rover SD! with modified inlet / outlet pipes d) a TVR special. Can anyone give me a definitive answer?

I also get the impression that as the water drops due to the leak, the engine misfires at light throttle. Various comments suggest that this might me due to the ECE sensor not being in the coolant. Can anyone confirm this?

Recore it. I think it has been answered as a TVR special as well. Some have had ally rad s made and improved the cooling?

Any good rad specialist should recognise the core (its either Range Rover or SD1, I can't remember) with slight mods to the pipes, easily done. Full refurb should be close to £100.

It could be that the ECU temp sensor is causing it: it could also be a worn patch on the throttle pot. Or an air leak...

I've been down the air leak and throttle pot route, and all appears to be OK. It appears to be worse when it needs a coolant top up. BTW, which is the temperature sensor for the ECU. There are two sensors fitted, aren't there?

Gerry,
Rad is a Tiv special. Just getting my SEAC one recored (deaper and wider than the 350) and it's costing £100. I got a quote for £400 for an Ally one.
I've got a 350 rad if your anywhere near Hereford or Leamington (or Essex mid week) - e mail if interested.

Is the standard SEAC rad different to the 350i? Minor mods to a standard Rover part hardly qualify as a TVR part.

I compared the 350 and 420 items side by side and the 420 one is deeper, slightly wider and a tad taller (certainly a lot heavier) and the mounting was different, thus It's being re-cored now (£100). shpub and Mike at the factory said they were a TVR unique part but you may be right that TVR simply added unique brackets to an SD1 item
