Thinking of buying a Type UK STI PPP advice please
Discussion
Hi, I am thinking of buying either a late 2 litre Type UK STI with PPP or possibly a 2.5 litre version, I will be covering approx 13000 miles a year and wondered what I am likely to spend running the car in servicing and tyres over 12 months?
I would prefer to buy a car still in manufacturers warranty, but if I bought an earlier 05 car outside of warranty will Subaru sell me an extended warranty?
I have been looking around for a decent buyers guide for this car, anyone got a link to one?
Thanks

When you buy a used Scooby from a stealership you will get 1yr Subaru warranty so long as the car isn't too old!! If it's well within the original manufacturers warranty then all well and good so long as it has at least 1yr warranty left. For example if it only has 6mths of the original warranty left insist they give you a full year.
Yes they like a good drink, if you look after the tyres it's not too bad, you service them every 10K miles which is average although it can be a tad expensive now and again, but you would be driving a very high performance vehicle like no other, and you would expect to get through consumables more quickly than say a Ford Mundano or Nissan Micra, but they have bullet proof mechanicals and are very reliable.
It all depends on how you drive it daily, but if you like to have a good blatt now and again or enjoy the odd trackday expect to get through Fuel, tyres and brakes a litle more quickly. I can easily get down to single figures on the MPG front in mine on a trackday.
Good fun though

For the performance they're pretty cheap. I bought a new STi PPP in november 2006 and next week it's going in for it's 20,000 mile service. So far it has used a set of front pads, a bit of oil and is getting to the end of it's second set of REO70 tyres. One thing it does use a lot of is fuel. I do about 15000 miles a year and my annual fuel bill is somewhere in the region of £3000. My insurance is £800 and servicing and tyres are probably another £1200 a year, add on to that the road tax (£400 this year) and you're looking at about 5.5k a year running costs all in! That's 15 quid a day to drive a car that will see most things off and get quite a few glances - some of them are even admiring..
Thanks for the replys chaps. RSV I am not worried about surprises but I will running this as a company vehicle and like to know a rough idea as to what it will cost me over 12 months there is a limit as to how much I am prepared to pay for a daily driver given my commute and the fact that I have access to a "weekend car".
Anyone got a link to a buyers guide?
