Hello there Im not sure that its okay to ask this sort of question in the forum section but here goes anyway
Im looking for a good pre august 1995 2ltr Zetec for my Fury ( pre catalyst regs )
I would like to either buy a engine that needs working on ie re build / new rings
new shells and cams etc.
I would also consider an engine thats already been sorted for a fast road setup
Does anyone have anything for sale
I apologise in advance if it is not good form to source an engine via the forum

Try John at Blaze Motorsport, they made some of the Fury race chassis, including mine.

thanks for the advice but i really wanted to go down the Zetec road
Im told that the Zetec goes straight onto the bellhousing with minimal work as my Fury has type 9 gearbox

thanks for the advice the only problem is the breakers yards round here would have the fillings out of your head before you had chance to say the word zetec
If you know of a good breakers around the Hertfordshire area i would be gratefull if you could let me know

If you can afford it, that Mountune spec engine looks like a good deal.

Is the engine as an upgrade or are you still building the car? Just I noticed you said the car already has a Type-9 box... If you're replacing a crossflow or pinto or something and the car has already been SVA'd then you don't need to worry about the age of the new engine.

Simply fill in the engine number / size change on the V5 when you're done and it'll still be tested at MOT time exactly the way it is now smile

Hello Flatpack thanks for your input the Fury has a 1700 crossflow at the moment that will be replaced with a Zetec at some point this year
I understand what you are saying that the car has been SVA'd and that in theory give them a new engine number and that should be the end of any new emission test's .
What I fail understand is if i were to fit V8 chevey engine( not that it would fit ) and just send of the new details that the emissions will be tested the same level as a 1700 crossflow i cannot believe that an Mot tester would not pick up on this or am i just misunderstanding somthing ?

Yeap that's right, you can change the engine to whatever you like after SVA and the way the car is tested for emissions won't change.

If you have a 'Q' reg plate (or the car was first registered before SVA testing started I think) then the MOT emissions test is for visible smoke only, regardless of what engine you have fitted!

If your car has been SVA'd and has an age related plate then you'll be tested to the levels specified on the V5 (in theory, sometimes this is blank!) which should be the same level as at the SVA test. This won't change when you change the engine, the DVLA have no way of knowing what you're changing it to and provided the emissions don't get worse they don't care.
