Just noticed my drivers door hits the striker bar when I close it. On closer inspection I noticed it lifts the door, which seems to now have some play in the lower hinge somewhere. Is this adjustable? It's not easy to see the bottom hinge without putting it on a ramp (or hanging upside down - but that gives me a nose-bleed!).

Cheers.

Dodger - you've been letting your Chimp swing on the doors again - take away his banana rations!

Beware thread hi-jack. Over the last few months, my door has started to catch on a bolt head(?)on the A panel area when fully open. Never used to do this, now removing paint. Could this be related to original thread.
Hi-jack over.
Back to jigs for usefull comment.

Both passenger and driver doors on my Chim are prone to dropping. The previous owner had the problem which resulted in the bottom of the door grazing on the frame. As he didn't do anything about it i now have some unsightly scuffing on the bottom edge of the door and the door 'frame'.

When at Peninsula approx 5 months ago, i told them about it and they managed to 'lift' both doors to stop the rubbing. It also obviously made them much easier to shut. I think they simply lifted the door into correct alignment and tightened the hinges, as i'd imagine the lower one had loosened.

Simple to do - do it before the bodywork get damaged - unlike the chap that used to own mine

Mine does this sometimes but not all the time - thought that a bit odd (shell moving?). Has anyone actually adjusted the hinges themselves and if so how?

Yes, that's what I want to know - HOW.

Thanks.

Could be weakened GRP in door flexing. Loose mounting bolts for hinges in door or bodywork or time for a new hinge (or car) whichever is cheaper...

My drivers door is slightly too low and doesn't meet the door seal.

The local dealers bodyshop (best dealt with direct) quoted 80 quid for the two hours labour to adjust the door hinge. Sounds fairly reasonable but I am still running with 30 odd layers of insulating tape on the door to fill the gap.

Door adjustment is best left to the professionals unless you have no hair left to pull out. It's amazing just how much worse you can make it by trying it yourself.

Wise words, if a little rhetorical.

The door/body is not flexing - the door can move up and down at the latch end. There's not much movement at the top (visible) hinge and it feels like its loose at the bottom. It's difficult to see this area.
