I and a college have been working on a quick rough site for aour clients to get updates etc of progress of there projects.

But in the longer term we are looking for a company person to develop a full ASP site with forums etc so that we can concentrate of our work in hand and not worry about the website etc.

we are looking for a person or company to update the site and bring it upto date design/presentation wose not the content. the site is quite large circa 30Gig for all information mainly engineering drawing and product manuals/installation instructions and user guides.

how much would it cost for someone to rehash the site (8000 pages or so) add a forum, Flash intro and some other flash demos to the site. and possible convert some of the user guide and installation guides into a flash demo.??

Money is that much of a problem but the quality of the end product must be first class

Cheers

Steve

Steve

It really depends on the amount of flash, how much of the work is creating a framework for you to sort the content. I'd say you could be looking at £3k+ but that could be vastly over or under. Give me a call on 01799 531258 ext 210 and I'll try to fill in more detail to give you a better idea.

cheers

8000 pages or so!

Basically something this big would need to be looked at before I could give you any ideas at all!

If its something we can stick in a database and then dynamically build the pages the cost might not be too much but if its lots and lots of static pages then just the cost of checking them all might be huge.

If theres someway to let me have a peek then I'm happy to get my team to provide you a quote.

I have been quoted 35k from some one but the work involved i think that is a bit excessive.

There is around 6000 pages of text, user manuals product discrptions etc plus instalationmanuals.

its all in a data base at the moment but not a very efficent one as i am no ASP expert of web development expert just dabble from now and then.

The guilde lines for my previous quote was

1) new Company website product info etc (200 pages, 100 images)
2) secure area for clients to gain support info plus manuals etc and a dedicated support forum for each client
3) 40 paper manuals to be converted to Flash with new graphics etc
4) development of a small intraet site (employees details, news etc normal intranet

Cheers

i recommend you have a look at Rainbow Portal (www.rainbowportal.org). Its a free peice of open source portal software written in ASP.NET and is absolutely amazing once you get in up and running. Installation is a nightmare though and you do need SQL Server hosting which might be costly.
