I have seen LED rear lights on a new A6 Avant. Are these standard on some models or available as an optional extra? Are they also available on the front like some models? Thanks.

I believe they're part of the "Vision Pack" or some such nonsense, they are fitted when Xenon headlights are.

They are part of Xenon Plus. Xenon headlights, headlight washers, daytime driving lights, LED rear lights. £775 option standard on S6 and 4.2. Only £550 if you are ordering an Sline.

Also available in the visibility pack I believe, as above plus adaptive headlight £850.

Personally, I had standard lights and spent the money with Superchips biggrin

Ok thanks. This now leads me on to the next question. I have a new 08 A6 Avant and would like the rear LED lights. Can they be retrofitted, they are obviously the same dimensions but does the wiring simply "plug in".

And yes I did order them with my new car... got talked out of them by the dealer because stock of my car model wasnt available quick enough, and now I am subsequently pissed off and feel like driving the car through their showroom window as they told me the lights didn't look any different!

If they told you they look no different you have a bcase under the sale of goods act as they mis represented. The LED lights look so cool compared to the standard.

Can the rear lights be changed over?

Don't know. I would guess they would physically fit, but the wiring may be different. They may well have identical fittings, what with being optimised for production lines and all that.

Personally, i'd get onto your dealer as tehy seem to have pulled a fast one on you in order to offload a car they had in stock.

Just been told by the dealer that they can fit the LED rear lights for over £500+VAT!

Does anyone know what these lights would cost as spare parts?

I would go back to them and say "You told me the standard lights would look the same, they don't, you have misled me and providing misleading information is contrary to the Supply of Goods and Services Act. How do you propose to rectify the situation?"

Your next job is then to negotiate, try offereing £250 and get them to cover the rest.

Or just don't pay at all, just kick up a big fuss about them misleading you.
When we got our A6, a flash-update and new disk for the Navigation came out, my Dad brought it up shortly after and they gave it to us for free, Dad's businnes partner had to pay something like £350 for his.
