Had a bit of a nightmare over the last couple of days with the S2 refusing to fire up.

The problem was finally tracked down to a fault in the rev counter which is now on its way to Speedy Cables for some TLC.

As the coil and rev counter are on the same fuse the nice man from the AA who rescued me has done a tidy little bypass jobbie to get the engine running.

Anyways...the bypass is pretty solid (you can flap it around and whack it on the dash etc and nothing happens) and the car works perfectly, but the AA guy was concerned that the earth lead isn't being used and it must've been there for a reason.

I've had a look through the bible/schematics and think the earth is purely there for the tachometer itself and the car "should" be OK to use with the bodge.

Not being an electician of any form, does anyone know if I risk breaking anything by using the car in its current set up?

Cheers!
