As I posted a couple of months ago I bought an XK in Emerald Fire livery and she is gorgeous. I do however do a lot of motorway driving and I am collecting stone chips for England. Does anyone have experience of a touch up stick? Is it worth it? Or should I maybe wait for a year and perhaps have a front end respray.
I know its sad but I like my cars to look good and this paint seems so thin.

Any ideas??

I would suggest a front end respary and get protection film fitted to the nose. Venturshiled is one system but there are others. Budget allowing I will ge this done to mine this year.

My car had this armourfend type stuff fitted when I bought it and I wouldn't bother again. Unless it covers the entire bonnet/front end you still get stone chips just further back. When it gets hit by slightly larger debris it gets 'rucked up' and torn and when you polish your car you have to wipe around the edge of it with a cloth and fingernail otherwise you end up with a white line due to the slightly raised surface. Bit of a faff really.

Slow down and keep a bigger gap between traffic?

I'm always on at Mrs JS about this rolleyes - she always sits right up the arse of the car in front, redlining it in third trying to overtake - and her Pug. GTI bonnet and windscreen is rashed with stone chips at 20K whereas my XJ at 80k hardly has any.

I've found the Turtle Wax coloured polish helps to disguise the chips...I can't do anything about the several dents in her passenger footwell that I've made going for a imaginary brake pedal 'tho

I'm with Steve on this one, biggrin, I always leave a big gap, my XKR is now a year old, done 16k miles and while it has some stone chips it's not bad at all, and you really notice them on a black car biggrin

2 second gap minimum. Only a few chips for me. A huge crack on my number plate, phew!

Forgot to mention Baby JS does the same - the front of her Fiesta looks like it's been shot with both barrels of a 12 Bore..

Why oh why oh why
is this taught in learning to drive
If they only sat back a little way they'd find it so much easier to overtake. They'd get better visibility and they could already be travelling at overtaking speed before pulling out.

hmm this horse is a bit high, anyone got a step ladder getmecoat

Really? Mine has already lost all the "bumps". I am hoping to find some after market metal ones, if they exist.

It's a very high horse indeed....I'm well known in JS Towers for my prized ability to offer endless criticism of the rest of the families minor driving faults whilst completely ignoring the glaring defects in my own on occasions....
