Help i'm nearly out of warranty!
Discussion
Got to work the other day after driving through the rain on the motorway to find the passenger footwell and rear footwell a little wet......
I have read this is common and is only the door card at fault - I have an 05 CV8 first registered end of april 05.
A) will the work be covered by warranty
B) Am i aswell to get the MOT done at the same time (or will they "find" some other stuff to charge me for?
C) 50k Service due NOW. How much should i expect to pay? - My local (non Monaro specialist) was offering £50 service for ANY VX model and half price MOT, I have yet to check out if they will do the Ro, or would one recommend a "specialist VX dealer" or non VX Monaro specialist such as Monkfish (for example) instead.
D) What is involved in 50k service?
It is booked for next friday, so any comments would be much appreciated.

If the car was registered end of April it is still under warranty, personally I would get the service and MOT done at a Vauxhall dealer, that way anything thats wrong (if anything) you would have a good argument to get it fixed under warranty.
never ever never ever take a car to get an MOT where they have Garage facilities or are next door to a handy garage. Take it to a local council station if possible or just an MOT specialist but never to a place that has a handy place to do the work they "find"stigmundfreud said:

Yes but is there an arguement that if taken to a VX dealer (when still under the warranty) they will get the wrong stuff sorted under warranty as they know they will get the cash as it is a warranty job - as apposed to me taking it somewhere else?
I'm running out of time here folks! Any thoughts at all on
a) should I have MOT done at same time as looking at the leak?
b) Should I let them do the service aswell.
c) Is this lot going to cost me an arm and a leg........?

Alot of garages dont do the jobs they should but its better than it used to be.
With servicing still get the last one done at the main dealer before the warranty runs out as they will fix bits again under warranty.
Other services probably better to do at one of the specialist garages on cars such as the monaro's and as you say they are cheaper!

Sorry I just do not trust dealers or a lot of the little mot places with garages next door.
And as for servicing I'd look at Monkfish (actually they do MOT's too) as their prices are substantially less than the Monaro dealers.

I think your remark needs to be qualified, most monaro dealers on here are on a par with Monkfish, and offer MOT and warranty work.
Took the Ro in this morning, and the VX garage (only monaro one in birmingham) said only major mechanical components are covered in the 2nd and 3rd years?! Is this right?
Does it make a difference it is a known fault?
I have left it with them and they are going to call VX HQ. Can anyone advise quickly please, or has anyone had the work done outside year one, and if so where?
Thx
John

Thanks Caspy.
Garage has called me back to say VX will "consider it" when they know for sure what the problem is. in the meantime VX garage are suggesting it will cost me £60 odd quid an hour to determine the fault..... Obviously this is FOC under warranty, but will be pretty peeved if they check for an hour and can't come up with where the leak is.

Vx garage called back to say could only find a damp patch! Doh! not been raining much where i am, plus do 230 miles a day at the moment, so car gets pretty warm.....
Garage almost suggested that i do nothing about it as "the technician may search for hours (at £60 ph) taking seats and carpets out and still not find anything........"
Just put a call into VX cuxtomer service, awaiting a call back from their "executive team".......
Anyone with similar problems please let me know what you did. Am i going to have to take it to somewhere where the same problem has been diagnosed and fixed?

thats rubbish about the charge Greens have just spent something like 2 weeks over the last couple of months sorting the leaks into the rear footwell no charge and free car apart from the agro of taking it they have dealt with the whole job for a 2004 CV8 just before warranty end say 2 months off

£11 a day "admin charge" for the car (1.2 Corsa)
Still waiting on the "executive team" to call back....
Word for word from my garage.
"vx have agreed to give us a couple of hours to investigate" [this says to me FOC????] " so we will have a look and report back on monday" [now we're getting somewhere]. "we will then call Vx to check if it is under warranty, if it is not we will let you know the cost incurred" [WTF!]
[didn't they say VX had agreed to "give" them a couple of hours investigation time, but they want to charge me?]
Good news is I get to keep the 1.2 Corsa for the weekend!!
