gents.. really looking forward here to getting a CSL this weekend and have been trying to register on mtorque but to no avail. have also tried emailing
[e-mail] but they keep bouncing back... whats the crack ? any ideas..

Might help if you tell us at what point it's failing.. error messages etc.

once i fill in the reqd details to register (display name, email address etc),
i go to 'submit'.. the next page comes up 'this email addrees has been banned' (thats trying it with a hotmail or yahoo address)

Right.. you do need to use a genuine ISP address (that's always been a requirement), rather than a webmail address.

(I only know because I used to Mod/Admin there).

Had the same problem.
Tried hotmail, yahoo and gmail.
You need to either use a real ISP address or something they have not thought to block.

I ended up having to use my work address.

I think you need a proper type e-mail address.(Been a while since I joined and my memory isn't so good)

i think its more to do with the website. I've asked 3 of my friends to try registering and all of them have become banned.

This means an email address that is NOT:
yahoo mail, gmail, hotmail or any other webmail address.
It needs to be the email your ISP has given you.
e.g [e-mail] or similar.

Webmail addresses are often used as a front to join a forum and spam it, often set up automatically by a 'robot'. So to keep the spam out, a proper address is required.

You're right - not accepting HOTMAIL makes it waaaay too difficult... (for about 0.001% of the population).
Someone posted much earlier that you need a real email address to sign up .. couldn't you just follow that advice?

I also tried to join, but got bounced as using a hotmail account, really irritating after filling out all the forms.

I probably do have a BT Broadband email address, but have never ever used it so have no idea what it is.

Would it accept a .mac address?
