I know it can be done with an Aston but has anyone with a Jag done it? and have you had any problems? I am going in for my first check on my Jag next week and I just wanted to see if any of guys had done this so I can have it done.

Presumably you are referring to removing the active exhaust valve? If so, why the hell would you want to remove that? If you're driving gently/idling, then you dont want silly inyourface noise. The active exhaust is a best friend, for example when you're approaching your home and you dont want everyone in the street to utterly hate you. When you're in an aggressive mood, the noise is there. Anything else is just showboating, which aint what Jags are about.

My friends like their music loud, I like my engine loud...but my dealer shot me down, they said it could cause problems. I have uncorked my Astons and never had a complain, the opposite actually, I am not trying to showoff, I just like the growl of the engines. BTW, nice F430.

You can pull the fuse for the active exhaust, same as on the AMV8, but it really makes no difference at all. Therefore you need to buy an aftermarket exhaust, but this is dangerous ground as Ewan point sout, Jags aren't about that.

The new XK-RS which is having limited release in Europe this summer has a louder exhaust system as mentioned in the blurb.

Theres no issues with running an exhaust without the valves, we has fitted hundreds now, many of them directly to the dealer network, who take around 50% of our stock.

Hope this helps

How about purchasing a nice TVR Chimaera for those "shouty" moments? You get a permagrin thrown in for free! biglaugh
