Any GTO3 owners out there who've refurbished their wheels..?

These ones here: http://www.tyretown.com/1156_waw/noble1.htm#

What are the options for the plastic centre cap that covers the wheel nuts? I'm being told that it can't be powder coated to match because it's very unlikely to survive being baked in an oven! OK, fair enough.

So what's the best way to get around this? I don't think I'm going to find a can of black chrome touch up paint in Halfords.. and my painting skills are not the best. Any help/ideas from folks who've been there before appreciated.

Not a bad option. They said powder coating was definitely part of the process for black chrome.. so maybe I'll have to think again colourwise.

I'm going to get mine sprayed satin black when I have the available funds. The Car is Titanium so should look good.

Didn't bother with mine, although two were bent. Just bought a new set of MO Compomotives.

They were only £900 and are stronger and lighter to boot. A bit of a no brainer really. I alos think they look better. I have a friend that has got a pair on his M400 and they have been coated in graphite grey with a silver lip. They look the mutz nutz and not exactly ££££££.

I did it myself - wet and dry paper to smooth finish - then 3-4 coats of under coat spray and then 3-4 coats of black top coat (masking tape involved too) - Mr Credit now has the car - and he seemed please with the look when he bought it. I did it with the tyres in place - just need to make sure you get the masking tape behind the rim but it's pretty easy with the 2.5/3 style wheels.

cheers

Thanks guys - lots of options here that I hadn't considered, including the Compomotives.. which look like a great improvement (and I didn't realise were so affordable). New wheels and tyres? Perfect way to start the Summer I'd say.

Did you dry paper back to the alloy or just to key and smooth the surface.

Have you a picture of how they turned out.

Guy,

Still doesn't say if you just smoothed them down or totaly removed paint back to alloy before painting. I also assume you sprayed them with a halfords spray can?

Surely that depends on condition of the wheels if it needs taking right back (mine will due to slight corrosion in a few corners)

Sorry - I justed smoothed them down didn't need any more then that really. Yes I did you Halfords paint (matt black wheel paint) and undercoat - Halfords paint is actually quite good - but their lacquer is a lod of tosh.
