Imagine my excitement on discovering the S3 I was buying had been specced with an iPod connector.

Imagine my disappointment when I found out it's diabolically rubbish. frown

Does anyone know if it's possible to improve without going the whole hog and replacing the head unit with an aftermarket one (got an Alpine in my CSL and that's great)? Is there a more expensive Audi one that will do a better job (seen the one in the A4/6 and that's pretty smart but more in line with a full audio/navigation system which I don't want)?

In the process of doing it myself.

You can get an insert for the dash which reduces the hole size to that of a standard DIN head unit. Once you fit that you are good to go - also solves the problem of lack of RCAs on the standard head unit if you want to run an amp and sub further down the track.

You getting really bad interference from the indicator on yours?

I was hoping not to have to go the aftermarket route again as I know what a pain-in-the-arse the Bose stuff is. Well, I speak from previous experience when I had my old S3 and I can't imagine Bose have started to play nice with other manufacturers. Also you never seem to be able to get a dash in-fill that matches the rest of the plastic so it looks a bit naff. Don't suppose I have a choice though.

Found this, which is mildly interesting so I'm going to go and have a look at it today;

It's a bit fugly but the rotary control looks pretty good plus no in-fill plastic needed.

Not getting indicator interference - is it really bad?

Hi,

This is posted here: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... And it works perfectly.

You'll need the canbus and fakra adapters - I used the caraudiogiant website as per that link. I can't recommend them enough.
