I'm toying with the idea of getting an M-12 but the roads where I live are anything but smooth.

At the moment I have a Cerbera and it is ok.

I suppose this is really a question for anyone who has both / moved from a Cerb to an M-12.

So what do you reckon?

Should I give up now or continue with my search?

My brother had a Cerbera that i drove a few times, and i have an M12. The Noble is very similar in ride quality but will cover ground on an un-smooth surface much better than the TVR. A Noble is much more of a precision driving machine where's TVR's are just good fun! driving - i know this from owning a Chimaera for over 4 years but prefer the Noble in nearly every way.

Get one.....you won't regret it!

I've got the Cerb set up for the Irish roads and, even though it took a while to get it sorted to work over here, it's now a well-sorted car and works well over here on the bad roads.

There's a Noble dealership (I don't know which one it is or exactly where it is) reasonably near a mate of mine in the UK so I'll take a trip in there the next time I'm over with him and see what I reckon.

And then I just need to get her-indoors on side .....

I had 2 Griffs a Cerb and a Tuscan, and am now on my second Noble. To me the Nobles ride and damping is a league up. ( compared to the TVR the lack of padding in the seats might disguise it a bit, but rest assured its a big difference). In terms of handling and grip, read several leagues! And I use my M400 every day on a mixture of all roads.

Sounds like a 3R would be the best choice for you...

I use my 3R pretty much every day and the mile or so to the main road from my house is not exacly smooth. I'm more concerned about the crap that gets kicked up into the wheel arches than how hard the suspension is.

Agreed - had both a 3R and an M400 and the 3R is a better road car over gnarly surfaces.

I live in Dublin and had a M12 3r from new and drove it with no problem at all for over two and a half years.

Go for it. You wont regret it.

I'll be over in the UK visiting a mate soon enough and I'll try to get a test drive booked with a dealer for when I'm over.

Hopefully we can take in a few of the UK's finest back roads ..... and that'll give me an idea of how well one would cope with the best of the Irish roads.

Oh and Alan was that you who posted on Octane.ie about having a Noble in Dublin some time back?

I used my M12 for the daily commute for years. The suspension is very compliant with all but the nastiest bumps.

I'd say an 3R would be a good bet, the M400 is a lot more crashy on uneven surfaces in comparison.

If you are careful on the loud peddle you can get over 33 MPG ! I once tortured myself just to see what it would do.
Suffice to say, I've only done it once :-)

I've been lucky enough to have owned several TVR's so far but not as yet a Noble.

Having been in Martins car a couple of times I can say with 100% certainty that it handles bumps and road imperfections significantly better than a TVR will. For the type of car a Noble is this is seriously impressive...It really is a dirty great Go Kart and has handling to match..!

As a result its made me want a Noble even more than i did before, shame i'm short on the old folding at the moment. I'd have one in a hearbeat if i did....

Probably was me. BTW I heard the guy who bought mine off me (2004 M12 Titanium) was thinking of selling it. Sure I have his number somewhere.

No, I'm commited to supporting Owen and Ash this year. I've decided to go every other year...make it a bit more special. Am planning with a mate to go in something absolutely bonkers next year, we're out to shock and awe biggrin

Ireland, this is a fairly easy one and has probably been answered above. I can categorically confirm the Noble is much better damped than a TVR. I have a Tuscan S and it's way stiffer and harsher than the suspension on the GTO 3. Not only is the Noble much better compared to TVRs, it's much better than many road cars in my opinion.

If you have his number send it on.

I'll talk to him and see what happens.

I may end up putting it off for a while though as a site I was after has come back on the market again so I may throw the money at that instead.
