Hi all,
Just a quick one, can anyone tell me the procedure for changing the rear discs and pads on an s3 51 plate? Or maybe have a link to the procedure?
I am very mechanically minded and this in theory should be a simple swap, but a mate of mine changed the rear pads on his mk4 golf and had no end of trouble getting the pistons in the caliper to retract.

I've just got the new car back from Audi after the 80k service (I wanted the stamp in the book) and they quoted for rear discs and pads at £316! I politely said thanks but I may get some other quotes! On the positve side the service guy said the technician said my car was one of the best examples of this age he's seen... the technician being an s3 owner aswell I felt really chuffed about my recent purchase last weekend!

Anyway if anyone has any links or feedback about the procedure for changing the rear brakes that would be great!

Cheers

Vee

Probably because he didn't use the correct tool to do so.
The piston needs to be rotated as pushed back, not just pushed back.
If he did do this then its probably siexed.

The tool is available from Halfords. I bought a Draper one for <£20.
have a looksee on www.audi-sport.net

Cheers the response mate, I thought that might have been the case. I remember doing the pads on my old renault 19 years ago and need to be rotated to get the pistons back. That explains that but anyway!
