Hope this is the right place for this post...

Mk 4 VW Golf TDI 115 PD (2001)

Loses power, as if going into limp-home mode.

The car runs well on short journeys (mostly), but has now developed a fault when you take it over a few miles. It's as though the Turbo stops working, or, as someone told me, it goes into limp-home mode. There is very little power to accelerate. The problem can be corrected by switching it off and then starting it again, however, this only solves the problem for a few minutes, then it happens again.

I had the fault codes read and this came up with two sensor faults...

1,Coolant temp sensor.
2,MAP sensor.

We changed both of these, but the problem remains.

Next to be changed today was the Mass Air Flow Meter, but this has also not corrected the problem.

Another couple of sensors on the bulkhead behind the engine are the EGR valve sensor and another that has something to do with the Turbo? Or so I am told. Maybe one or both could be at fault.

I am not particularly technically minded and have only explained what other people have suggested to me, but I am at a loss as to what to do next.

Has anyone any ideas?

I had someting similar on my 51 Passat 130 TDI PD. Can't tell you the name of the sensor, but it was related to measuring Turbo boost. I believe it reports an overboost condition, which causes the car into limp home mode. Sensor wasn't that expensive.

Hopefully someone will be along to say what the sensor might be
