Hi chaps,

Bit of a difficult question, but I need to know how much space there is above the engine on a GTR for a filter assembly...

I am using a Kinsler 2 1/2" stack system....

and I am thinking of using this filter....

http://www.knfilters.com/Racing/Injection.htm

It is 19" long, 14" wide and 6.5" high. Has anyone used a similar setup on their car? If so, was there a problem with filter clearance?

Many Thanks,

Martin

Hello Martin, thought that I recognised the surroundings in the photo yes
As we both have very similar set ups I can tell you now that you will be pushed to get that Leviathan filter fitted to the top of the Kinsler and still be able to close the clip, it is very tight once the engine is installed. Best to wait until you can measure for clearance; Me, I had an ali air box made to suite and used a Mosler filter, ain't cheap but it was all that would fit.

Thanks Wayne,

Suspected it's going to be tight... :-(

Will wait until the engine is in place then before ordering... I am just about to order some bits from Summit so was hoping to do in one hit.

You recognised the workshop then! How's Pete getting on with your engine?

Not heard a word yet although in all fairness he did say he was very busy right from the get go.

Cheers Crafty!

Nothing quite prepares you for the induction roar of these on startup... Did you hear the orange Can Am at the FOD last year? Awsome! It was a 6.7L on the same Kinsler setup... Can't wait to fire it up!

Cheers, Mart

Mart

I am making a custom intake for my LS7 Kinsler this weekend. It's the engine on Peter's website. I'll post pictures when done.

I plane to use two flat panel filters and duct the air in from the front so hopefully as cold as possible

Thanks for the help chaps,

Just put a bid on ebay for a flat panel filter... Will be interesting to see your solutions if you could post the pictures.

Many Thanks,
Mart
