e21 3series heater

the heater in my old 3series blows hot air to the footwell, but when the 'in your face' fans blow, it's cool air. is this a big problem, or just the heating thing needs a good service. i can mention this to garage its booked in for on friday for it's normal service.

i will try and blow it for a while later, as i only just got the car and it's been sat for ages doing nothing, maybe this could be why. what do you guys think?

Do you have the little dial between the 2 air vents that controls the upper body temperature?

between the two main middle vents i have the hazard warning lights button. below and to the left i have the main temp dial, is this what you mean? next to the main 2 vents i have a slider to adjust how open they are...
