Anyone know what the recommended tyre ratings are for the E46 M3. Most concerned with load index.

Just got a set of tyres with a rating of 89 (580kg at 51psi) and want to know if these are suitable?

What are other folks running?

Thanks,

Mo

35 front and 40 rear's not the load index... The load index is usually something along the lines of 91Y.

You must when changing tyres for a different type or size make sure you have the same ratings speed, weight etc. or more, never go less, with weight ratings if you go less it will cause heat in the side wall of the tyre making it poss. fail,

225/45 ZR 18's michelin pilot sport @ 33/41psi 615kg @51psi front (gross axle weight ratings) cars gross weight load limit for front axle = 970kg
255/40 ZR 18's michelin pilot sport @ 35/48psi 690kg @ 51psi rear (gross axle weight ratings) cars gross weight load limit for rear axle =1140kg

225/40 ZR 19's mich ps @ 33/41 psi don't know weight ratings but guess they will be if not the same very close
255/35 ZR 19's mich ps @ 35/41 psi again don't know weight rating for this tyre,

the two different psi e.g @33/41 33 is for low load 2 / persons and 41 is for heavy load / 4 persons
kerb weight with 90% fuel > gross without optional extras = 1570kg
permissable gross weight 2000kg

91/y the 91 is the weight it can carry @ Y which is the speed rating Y= 186 mph or 300km/h
for exsample 89Y would mean 1279 pounds @ a max speed of 186

the spec above is the standard for a e46 ///M3 wouldn't think of putting less rated tyres on it DANGEROUS.............

hope this helps

think that's complicated if you use a trailer it gets silly

Uniform Tire Quality Grading (UTQG)

Category Measurement
Treadwear
A comparative rating, with 100 as a base – a tire graded 150 would wear about one-and-a-half times longer than one graded 100.

Traction
Graded highest to lowest for their ability to stop on wet pavement:
• AA
• A
• B
• C

Temperature
Graded highest to lowest for their resistance to heat:
• A
• B
• C (minimum required by law)
