All this talk of impending recession, high fuel prices and the like and me eagerly waiting for a nice GTR to drop sub 30K mark as owners rush to offload toys to offset falling house prices etc...

BUT....no, prices are still strong and the cars still rare!

Will the Ultimas see a value drop? (que all owners saying "no way, it's too rare, you get what you pay for etc...")

But seriously, when times start to get tough bargains can be had no?

Anyhow, I'll keep waiting for a nice loaded GTR, preferably Black for circa 28K smile

Well, I am building one, but IF a "nice loaded Black GTR" became available then I would pay at LEAST 29k ..... so your bid is currently out of the market !!

(and I am sure someone will come along in a minute who will pay AT LEAST 30k !!)

So, in answer to your question, in my view there will not be bargains as far as "nice loaded GTR's" are concerned.

Just my opinion !!

Yeh, that should become a reality right about the time someone announces that a cluster of Norwegian cannibal tooth fairies have stormed the White House and announced that the USA is to become a member of the EU, but only so long as they can introduce a new currency based around Yak dairy products to replace the seemingly worthless Euro.
But I guess anyone can dream eh cloud9hehe

Surely you can save quicker than the prices are falling? If you are only ever going to be preparred to pay £28k and not a penny more, then alas, you may be waiting a while. If however you are saving hard to top up on your 28k then be patient. Your savings will meet the asking prices and an Ultima will be yours.

Good luck

there has been plenty sold for well under 30k so your search will not be in vein.

mmm......interesting theory:

There seems to be two lots of people

The Have-wongas - those with a few properties and the spare wonga to buy an Ultima.

The No-wongas - those without properties and no spare wonga to buy an Ultima.

We also have a Robbin-Hood market situation that apparently affects only the Have-wongas .... Leaving the No-wongas suddenly with loads of spare wonga to pick up the toys that the Have-wongas liquidate to cover losses in real estate?

mmmmm......

Me thinks this is not really the case.

Me thinks that if any Ultimas or property does hit the market at fire sale prices, it'd be an overextended No-wonga selling and that a savvy Have-wonga would be picking it up.

In fact me thinks that the Have-wongas are getting ready to buy stuff, not sell stuff.

Me also thinks that if there are bargains to be had out there, the No-wongas would be well advised to buy some of the property that the overextended No-wongas are offloading (rather than the toys) so that next time there's a reversal of the market, they can cash in and buy two toys, and never be a No-wonga again.

I had a GTR kit that was never finished so I sold it, it was the new shape, lowered floor etc... just realised I'm a 'turn key' man in the end.

As a seperate story I did see a nice Black GTR on PH'er about a year and a half ago that dropped to circa 30K. Stupidly I posted on here if anyone knew any details about and some plonker said he'd seen it and it was rubbish, I was a bigger plonker as I took his word as gospel and didn't bother to see the car. Anyhow someone else brought it, posted how they liked it, then a load of others posted that it was a top car built by some aero engineer, Great!
So I keep looking, just a shame I don't fancy yellow as they seemed to be popping up a bit (the same one I see too).
I do wonder though if the Bear share market, impending recession etc.. will effect prices of all 'Toy's'.

I saw this Ultima at Bruntingthorpe last Sat, he was there to set up the engine under track conditions as it had only ever been road run only. A Labour of love build with him and his Dad, nice bloke.
