Advice re bmw purchase
Discussion
Hi all
Just seen a BMW at Sytner Sheffield that i want to buy, thing is i'm in newcastle and need to part ex my car against the new one.
Whats the best way of going about buying the new car? is it best to contact the dealer or my own local dealer.
Haven't got time to sell mine privately or go travelling to sheffield unfortunately

Many moons ago we bought our M3 Evo from Glasgow (BMW main dealer) over the phone (we're in Surrey). We had a 328i Sport to trade in and they made us a reasonable offer that we were happy with without seeing the car. The 328i Sport was an AUC and had full history. We arranged to take a bankers draught with us and if all was OK we would do the deal. When we got there the salesperson told us they had put a new set of rubber on the M3 and when they saw our 328i they threw in an extra years warranty on the M3. On top of that the M3 was probably about 1-2K cheaper than what was available in the South East.

Do the deal on that car with your local BMW dealer. They can buy it from other dealer at cost and because it's not their stock ( or money ) they will do you a better deal.Just seen a BMW at Sytner Sheffield that i want to buy, thing is i'm in newcastle and need to part ex my car against the new one.

It helps if the car is within the Dealers group i.e. talking to your local Sytner dealer about the car at Sytners in Shefield.
I was looking for a 330ci in Birmingham. With the dealer (Sytners) found a number cars online which we liked. A couple were outside of group. Enquiries were made but if the car was desirable then the other garages would not release it.
However we found one which we liked in Wales and as it was at a dealer which was part of the Sytner group, they were compelled to release it at cost.
I bought it without seeing it in the flesh. The deal was a deposit paid before the car was bought up to Brum. This was refundable if the car was not exactly as described. The price negotiations and part ex. was sorted in Birmingham as if the car was on the forecourt.
My experience it that by dealing within group, you are at no disadvantage dealing this way.
