Think my roadspeed sensor is up the duff, sometimes the revs hang without dropping at standstill and every now and then they hang at 1600. Is it a likely culprit? got a new throttle pot btw. If so is it a big job to change?

Had the same on my Chimaera Apache. When I pulled up at a junction the revs would hold high, sometime dropping, sometimes I needed to give the throttle a blip and they would drop.
It got progressively worse until they didn't drop, a new stepper motor was fitted and it's been fine since.

Just a thought.

Clean the Stepper before doing anything else - guess you've already done this though?

I know I've said this before, and it sounds daft until you think it through, but my idle goes a bit AWOL when the coolant level drops. In fact I have a tendancy to use this as my indicator to get under the bonnet!

I think the system can get an airlock and thus confuse the sensor into thinking the temperature is low, thus it tends to race away. Otherwise I had a similar problem when the ECU connectors got badly corroded.....
