Imaginary TVR’s.
Discussion
At the risk of starting up another flasher/**999** style argument looking at www.tvr-sportscars.de/index.php we now seem to have: Chimaera, Tamora, Cerbera, T350C, T390C, T350T, T390T, T400R, T440R, Tuscan, Tuscan S, Speed Twelve. That’s 12 models!
I’ve only ever seen a Chimaera, Tamora, Cerbera, T350C, Tuscan and, a Tuscan S on the road. When are the T390C, T350T, T390T, T400R, T440R ever going to appear on the road if at all?
Having one phantom model is OK’ish but claiming to have five models in your stable that have never seen the light of day or been delivered to a customer (and for the past year or so) is taking the pi** slightly!! That’s nearly half the claimed product range. Are there any ASA / trading standards rules around this?
Edited to add: Quite frankly now, whenever I see a new model variant announced by TVR I never know whether to treat it as a welcome news or a publicity stunt.

Get out more then !
I have a T350T in Crystal Topaz.
Running it in at the moment but still awesome.
Check out some of the threads for piccies.
The 390T & 390C are just tuned versions of their Coupe and Targa cousins, they will probably be badged as 350's.

The TVR Griffin was a tuned version of the 4.3 BV Griffith. If I remember correctly around 15 were built, but the chassis couldn't take the power and there were other alleged problems around trademark of the Griffin name.
Presumably TVR aren't restricted to making 200 cars a year any more? With 12 models that would be spreading the butter awfully thin...

Might be a long shot, but I would love to see two S6 engines put together as a V12 for a proper road engine, not a short lived over the top Speed 12 racer with 800bhp though. As I think only 1 or 2 road going Speed 12's were built and although lovely were really actually totally impractible for the road. But dropping a de-tuned V12 (de-tuned to 500bhp would be enough for standard) into a smaller roadcar a T440R chassis maybe if it had the space, this would be a perfect range topper.

Now we are talking !
It's not the first time. An old copy of What Car (May 1991) lists the 'Speed Eight' 2+2 complete with all details - but it never saw the light of day because someone designed the Griffith. The rest is history. Similarly the Tuscan of about 1990 was earmarked as the next TVR until also knocked into a cocked hat by the Griffith. It's odd, though, that it ended up as a race-only model - you'd think they'd have wanted to use the shiny new Griff.
Don't knock the Speed 8 2+2. It was a fantastic looking car based on the 400SE (appeared at the 1989 or 1990 motor shows IIRC). However, the Griff (with Ford door handles & a host of other features that didn't make it to production) also appeared and TVR took I think about 20 deposits on a Speed 8 and several hundred on the Griff. Hence the Speed 8 was consigend to the scrapheap at the back of Bristol Ave. It was still there until a couple of years ago when it was cut up.
Not sure what this Griffin is though. After 14 years of TVR ownership including 9 years editing TVR Sprint I've never heard of a Griff being renamed as this except by journos who don't know any better.

Never heard that - The original was of course named after Jack Griffith and the badge was indeed a shield with a Griffin on it but never heard it applied to Griffith 4.3BV's . Rich...
Rich, you didn't think I was serious did you! Another imaginary TVR... or did you just make that bit up as well???
