My wonderful reliable Nissan Primera left me stranded at 1 a.m. on a darkened M40 slip road, just after I had told several people how reliable it was compared to the Tasmin. So while that was being repaired at extortionate cost, I contemplated my daily 50 mile M1 commute and weekend travels in the previously less than reliable wedge with something approaching trepidation.
This time, I needn't have worried; I'm probably tempting fate by saying this, but she ran like a dream! I must have done over 500 miles in the week and a half my "main" car was off the road, and I enjoyed every minute of it!
What amazed me is how many people let you into queues when you're driving a wedge, and how many people want to talk about it! Quite unlike a friend's experience whilst being driven in a Lamborghini Diablo - apparently hostility was the main reaction to that car.
Nothing beats a good old British institution!

Good one. You do get the odd nobber who thinks your a rich git when they see your Tiv and the odd kid in their rice rocket wanting a race (I always ignore these as most scoobies with 300+ bhp and 4wd would eat a Wedge off the lights). Though most people like Wedges as they are British - perhaps need to put a flag on it. I did think of doing the Tea Tray on the SEAC in Union Jack colours but then thought it'd look crap so grew up!!

Love the Rice Rocket comment! I always love taking my car to work and would miss my Wedge badly if I had to sell it. For me its always been the TVR I most desired though I would probably end up getting a Griff 500 at some point.
I think its sad when you get other Tiv people in their non - Wedge TVRs who come up with the negative stuff though.

), still testing the new fans to be sure.......'onest. And one comment went along the lines of "cor..look at that Ferarri, doesn't it sound good" Its been a Triumph TVR at a car show, Dad to son. Other duffers tell me they are unreliable, its the old 50's know how you see etc. A kit car, one argument was "yer but if them handle are on a Crapri is a car but on here its a kit car?"
But I know better, thats what counts. And the festa, tusty 90's know how has let us down more

Drove up to Norfolk and back in the wedge this weekend - and into the first heavy rain I've seen for months. I was impressed with how watertight she was, the only place that got wet was my leg! I traced that to the hole the accelerator cable comes through the body - I think a little silicone sealer is called for.
Meanwhile, the Nissan took offence to the rain and wouldn't start when I tried to move it out of the way to put the wedge back in the garage when I got home.
Maybe I should sell the Nissan and buy another wedge!

Routinely find people stopping and waving me out on busy junctions where I'd struggle to get out in a 'normal' car. Dunno if it's because I enjoy driving the TVR so I'm in a better mood, or because people really treat me differently, but it always seems much less stressful because people do seem to go out of their way to help rather than cut you up and so on. So it isn't just wedges!
Recently I have had two cars pull over and let me past once on a country lane and the other on a busy A road, this is the first time this has ever hapend to me. What really suprised me though was that one was a golf gti and the other a BMW. Though I guess that the front end of a wedge seen in the rear view mirror probably looks like it it saying you can either move out of the way or I will eat you.
