Got burning smell in car.
After being parked up for several hours, returned to car a noticed an odd smell in car, after starting engine and pulling away then putting on auto demist a very strong burning smell filled the cabin, opened all the windows for the 2 mile journey home. After turning off the engine and getting out of the car the strong smell could be smelt outside and appeared to be coming from the engine compartment.
Smell still there following day when engine was cold.
Took to dealer who implied it was bad driving and the smell was from the clutch, no other problem found.
3 days later the smell is still evident but not as strong.
Find it hard to believe it could be clutch as driving style hasn't changed.
Any Ideas please.

This might be a complete red herring, but I had a burning smell yesterday which turned out to be coolant leaking and boiling on the manifold. Different car though, so just a thought.

This is a new car it should perfect, This is the problem with buying new cars these days. They are built like st! Take it back and demarnd that they sort the problem out! Even if it is just a small leak somewere then refuse to remove it from the forcort untill it's fixed. I would stand in the forcourt and tell as many people as I could not to bother comming in all the cars are crap!!

Save your money and buy an old banger so if it breaks leave it at the side of the road and get another one!

Not a lot of help I know but I have the same problem on my 2002 fiesta. Smell only tends to last for a maximum half hour with me though before it goes. I've had my car looked over many times to try and find the source but nothings ever been found so I just ignore it now! Still its not good especially on a new car though I beleieve my fiesta did it from new as well but only on long journeys at first which the first owner (mum) rarely did so didn't notice the problem. Would be interesting to see if anybody else has had this problem?
