Hello all,

I have an 08 defender 90xs. I am very happy with it with the exception of the cd/radio sound quality, to put it bluntly it is rubbish. Has anyone succesfully upgraded theirs and if so what did you have put in? An idea on cost would also be appreciated.

Thanks

I have recently fitted a Becker Cascade 7944 which has sat nav, bluetooth and the Ipod adapter so I can listen to and control my Ipod from my head unit.At the same time I had all the facory fit speakers replaced with better quality but same size Kenwood items.
The head unit is excellent.Im pleased with the sound quality improvement of the front speakers. The rear speakers Im not so pleased with.At high volume there is some buzzing and they just dont feel up to the job.I think Im going to have them taken out and bigger enclosures made so I can use bigger more powerful speakers in the same location.

I put 6" Morel speaker at the bottom of each door with tweeters at the top of the door card. A 8 or 9" Bazooka base tube bahind the cubby box and some more Morels in the very back. All powered by a large amp that i placed under teh cubby box.........lifted teh cubby box by 2" at teh front and 4" at the rear and it hides it all away perfectly and has the added bonus of making the cubby box into a useful armrest. I then got a Pioneer headunit (green lights match the dash lights) and put an I-pod cable through to the little hole in the dash by the steering column.....on an 2002 model probably different on the 08.

I have to say the quality, bass and loudness of the system is unreal and as most of it is hidden away it does not look too 'naff'. Cost about £1500.

Hi Bish,

Do you have any pics of the door cards in your Landy, as I didn't know you could fit speakers to them. Also where did you get your xenon light conversion from? cheers

OP,

I installed a pair of Pioneer speakers to replace to standard shin facing ones and a Pioneer head unit with USB/I-pod conection and both have made the quality better. Still need more bass though. HTH
