Hello peeps
Still making up my shopping lists.......am after a new fan as the current one is $hite. A viscous coupling jobbie which spins all the time, but never very fast.

Anyways, which would one say is preferable, a sucker or a blower? I can fit a 13 inch electric one in front or behind but can't decide which?! I'm inclined to say a sucker behind the rad.......

cheers

The sucker is at least protected from anything thrown up in front of you - Streaky

Sucker, behind rad would be easier to get to and would keep cleaner, blower in front of rad is slightly more effective though, if the fan doesn't have an outer ring you'll need to cowl it, does that make sense?

Just replaced my single with cowl for 2 and no cowl. Fans are behind the rad and secured tight to the rad face.

If you are using a sucker it is worth making sure you have a gap between the matrix and the fan, to let the turbulence decay before the flow reaches the fan. If you can, fit a cowl over the whole matrix (i.e. so all the air coming through the matrix then has to come out past the fan) this improves the effectiveness of the fan and also gives you a suitable gap. Last time I looked, Kenlow did fans with a square shroud and two of them would just about cover the rad. If you're mounting the fan straight onto the face of the matrix, there's a very small advantage to using a pusher, since the fan then sees smooth air flow, but the effect is very small compared to the practical issues of getting access to mount the fan and being able to get at it afterwards.

How big a gap? I sort of followed advice and instructions.
