Hi folks,

Can someone give me an approx idea of servicing and warranty costs for an E46 M3 saloon? The car will be serviced at a bmw dealer and the warranty will be with BMW as well.

Thanks and all the best.

Martin.

The cost for warranties has recently dropped:

Full Comp / 250 Excess / Breakdown = £690
Full Comp / 100 Excess / Breakdown = £835
Full Comp / 0 Excess / Breakdown = £951

Full Comp / 250 Excess / No Breakdown = £612
Full Comp / 100 Excess / No Breakdown = £757
Full Comp / 0 Excess / No Breakdown = £873

Named Part / 250 Excess / Breakdown = £590
Named Part / 100 Excess / Breakdown = £706
Named Part / 0 Excess / Breakdown = £798

Named Part / 250 Excess / No Breakdown = £512
Named Part / 100 Excess / No Breakdown = £628
Named Part / 0 Excess / No Breakdown = £720

Driveline / 250 Excess / Breakdown = £474
Driveline / 100 Excess / Breakdown = £557
Driveline / 0 Excess / Breakdown = £623

Driveline / 250 Excess / No Breakdown = £396
Driveline / 100 Excess / No Breakdown = £479
Driveline / 0 Excess / No Breakdown = £545

Servicing prices tend to be all over the place, dealers will charge what they think they can get away with, so expect quotes from £650 all the way to £1000+ (For inspection 2). However the BMW dealer in Cotswold provides Inspection 2 for £650. This undercut my local dealer (BMW Taplow) by £500so a quick comparison call and they agreed to price match. The schedule for maintenance is (with 12,000 intervals):

Inspection 1 - £450+
Oil service - about £120
Inspection 2 - £650+
Oil service - about £120

Hope that helps

If an E46 M3 is bought out of warranty, is it possible to get a BMW Warranty added subject to some sort of inspection?

Cheers

Unfortunately not. Even a 1 day lapse will mean the car in question can never again be placed un der the BMW Warranty.

So what sort of warranty is best? I'm currently discussing warranty options with an indy and want to make sure the limits are set correctly.

How good is the full warranty? Does it really a sleep well at night solution? Anything that isn't covered (other than comsumables like pads, clutches, tyres etc.)?

Also, how long can the car be covered (e.g. 10years/100k)?
