I know the lower models of the range use an electronic throttle and hence cruise can apparently be easily retrofitted. ( A mate did this to his 53 reg 2.5i)
Does the Z4M use the same mechanism and can I retrofit cruise??

I read that the S54 engine has fly by wire (electronic) throttle so the procedure should be pretty similar, with different part numbers and of course + 50% cost as its an M tax you knowwink

Possibly a very silly question, but don't all new(er) M models have cruise as standard?

I had to order it as an extra on my September 07 model.

I'm sure I read on another forum that it was not possible to retro-fit one. Mine came with the car, it as an option when new.

Go and search on www.z4-forum.com

IIRC fitting it onto a non-M Z4 is a matter of buying the stalk and connecting it up. But this doesn't work for the M. YMMV.

Why do you want cruise? It is an M!

For the six and half hours up the M6 to the folks house. Foot gets tired.

Cruise definitely cannot be retrofitted to z4m's. I researched this when getting mine. The technician team tried every which way to get BMW to provide kit/info as an engineer everything is possible but in the end I saw the fax from BMW UK saying it can't be done. The dealership lost a sale over it and returned my deposit - so they were convinced enough to pay up!

The only way is factory fit and there aren't many cars around. Took me a while to find a good one with it fitted.
