Does anyone know of any decent places to stay around Le Mans that may still be available for next year? It doesn't have to be cheap, so I'd consider a gite, or even a chateaux possibly as there will be a few of us going.

2 years ago, we stayed at a place which was about 30 minutes away, but would like somewhere a bit closer this time. Camping isn't really an option, as the g/f's parents will be coming along, and they don't do camping!

.... you forgot to mention that this year's supposed VIP camping with a certain "specialist" motor racing travel company (to remain nameless), was not exactly up to expected standards . Our group is also looking for alternative options, after having used the company referred to above for the last five years.

We stayed at Club Motorsport (it is camping, but they do let those massive tents in), details by Littlegearl in this years thread i suppose some pages back now. But he did start a thread about the place - its very good with excellent facilities such as chef cooked food, proper hot running water etc) and sort of secure parking (big fence from main road) for all the nice motors that turn up. About 2mins from Arnage.

Also some friends of mine who own a race-set up consultancy stayed at some chateau about 20mins (i think) from the circuit - i would have to get details from them though as i can't remember the name. Having looked at Stigs Ultima website though, it looks like it might have been that place or similar.....

edited cos i found the thread....

Don't rule out a Gite as being too expensive. We've found one that's way less than 10 kilometers from the track for about 350 euros for the ten days we need it (Saturday through the week to Monday after) and it sleeps six. You've just got to search a bit!

That sounds good, and I'd even be quite happy to pay a bit more than that, especially if it was somewhere with a pool.
