Had the chaps from Racing Green up yesterday with a new shape XKR cab with an uprated supercharger. After some tweaks to the map it made 475bhp and they asked me to take it for a spin to see what i thought.

I'd not driven the new XKR yet but i'm amazed at how civil it is to drive, the auto box is lovely! As for the coversion, its quick, just put your foot down and it just goes, any gear and the speedo needle just sweeps round. Totally addictive! The Noise is epic!

That particular car is coming back for some more work with water/meth injection soon, in the meantime i am off to look for £80K hehe

So is this an all new supercharger or a tweaked Eaton blower???

Ahh just the good ole pulley upgrade. Thought RGC may have got an all new unit.

£80k for a pulley seems a bit steep to me!

Hi Triple 7 !

Now now old chap, you know that the £80 K is for the XKR Convertible - the "Pulley" is extra !

And its not just a "Pulley". Our Stage One conversion includes the very addictive Quad exhaust system. It also includes some very clever and unique new componentry, which permits the installation of a larger, crankshaft-mounted supercharger drive pulley, plus other "bits and pieces". (We are not great fans of the popular (US-sourced) mini-pulleys, which can be fitted to the Supercharger itself but which develop much less boost). The Racing Green Stage A system costs just £2455 + VAT.

The Stage B system, (which was whar Vixpy 1 was rating on his "Surrey Rolling Road" equipment yesterday), comprises all of the above, plus a bespoke ECU map. It was this system which gave 475 BHP and 470 ft lbs of torque. It is available for £2950 + VAT.

(There was a time when the full Grand Prix exhaust for the steel-bodied 4.0 litre XKR cost more than that !).

As a bonus, the 475 BHP Stage B upgrade is quite capable of delivering average fuel consumption figures of 26 m.p.g.

And Vixpy 1 is right. He will be running a Stage B XKR on his rollers next week with Water Methanol injection operating. (That's WM, NOT Nitrous Oxide injection).

Gareth, you live close enough to Racing Green to come over and check out an Arden AJ20-bodied XKR fitted with the Stage B upgrade. That is, if you are not too busy stopping ice getting into your Boeing Triple 7's carburettors - or looking after the new addition to the GJ family !!

Best Regards
Chas

That should help, colder air == more oxygen == more power!

Hi Norman,

A8Hex is right about the power increase !

What's the problem ? You frightened of catching a cold ?

Our car has full climate control, so it'll be cosy inside !

You can have a ride in it if you want, but a "back to back" on the A331 would
lose us our licences !

Yes NormanD no worries, Chas car will be very hot due to the (H)Eaton spinning so much faster, it will be cosy in there indeed ;-)

Andre.

When refering to 'Turned cold' it was refering to Pulley or Pullover.
Not that I was not up for it
