1995 E34 540i Hot Start Problem
Discussion
Good Afternoon,
My 540i has recently developed a hot start problem which happens intermitently.
I have had the car checked for fault codes by my local indy and nothing came up and as I had expected the car started first time when they tried it.
The problem is that the starter doesn't engage (no clicking noises etc) all ignition lights come on etc but no starter....
This only happens when the car is hot it always starts first time everytime from cold.
After about 20 mins though it will go striaght away any thoughts ??
Thanks in advance
Chaz

It could be the ignition coils on the blink, although I wouldn't expect them all to have failed?
Still worth checking them for cracks that can expand when hot and close up when cold.
How does the car go on a run, is there any hesitation under accleration?

No hesitation it pulls like a train...... if it decides to start Still worth checking them for cracks that can expand when hot and close up when cold.
