I'm thinking about getting an M6 Convertable and wanted to canvass opinion with those in the know. I've used the search to find previous threads but can't find any.

So what are peoples thoughts and experiences?

Never driven one but I like it - not sure if i'd take it over other machinery in the same sort of price bracket tho.

Looks awesome in black with cream leather

I can't think what else to have. My requirements are a four seater than can take child seats. My wife really enjoyed our old convertible cars in the past. I've always loved BMW's and can't really think what else to have. I'm open to suggestions.
Regarding price, at less than a year old they've dropped quite a bit. List is eyewatering!

I'd go for it.

M6 is plummeting in value now and there are some low mileage ones at 50% of original list.

Don't overlook the 650i either. Still fast , not nearly as thirsty, looks much the same too. Guess it depends if you want 300 plus hp or 500 hp when the family are on board!

The 650 would be a more regular auto rather than have the SMG box of the M6 as well.

I like 'em.

Agreed. Lovely car but you're gonna take a bath on it.

FWIW, I'd have one in the blink of any eye if I could raise the funds (& find somewhere to park it), irrespective of future value. White please!

Like the OP, never heard any banter on here about them, or seen any at VMax, but surely with the M pedigree & that engine note/power it's ideal.

You'd just need to buy the kids some of these

How about looking at the M6 Forum , which I believe is part of the M5 Forum

Don't get excited until you have driven one - people either love or hate the SMG box.

A 911 has 4 seats and can take child seats.

I've never heard of many problems with the M6 Convertible either. Only thing I suppose that rear legroom is very limited, but if thats not an issue, then its nothing to worry about. Very good choice if you do end up getting one

I've had an M5 on loan few a few hundred miles and am quite happy about the gearbox. In fact I personally think it's brilliant although I have yet to try the new DSGesque one in the M3.

Re the 911, when the kids get a bit older and don't need child seats I will probably have another one as I absolutly loved my last one, but at the moment the 911 is too small wheras the M6 ideal for child seats.
