The rear passenger door on my E34 has deadlocked itself shut and won't open for love nor money. It looks like the only way I will be able to unlock it is by removing the door trim from the inside - without opening the door. This is looking more and more impossible the harder I try.

Is there some trick I need to know about? Is there some other way of freeing the lock?

About to go mad here banghead

I did manage to get it open by removing the door trim - not an easy task when the door is locked. The vital tool was a long bit of flat bar to slide down the inside of the trim from the top and pop the clips at the bottom. Once I had the trim off I just poked around in the catch mechanism with a screwdriver until something went "ping."

Not sure how easy this would be on an X5 though...
