I know there was stuff on here about this but search ain't working.

I have one and tried to fit it, but it won't reach the master cylinder. ie bypassing the metal hose and fittings. It's supposed to be the same as e36 one, and that is what I have, I believe, anyone know different. At present it's not going to fit and the old hose died whilst extraction was taking place grumpy

thanks, but that post doesn't really answer my question, does an e36 hose fit an M Coupe? If it's supposed to then I have the wrong one, as it wont reach, if it is the right hose I'm missing something, and have little to go on, google or otherwise

According to Realoem the Z3 and E36 have different part numbers for the same hose so I guess they are different.
21522228238 for the Z3M ( http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=CM92... item 23 )
21522228101 for the E36 M3 ( http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=CD92... item 23 )

How long is your new pipe? I may have a longer one I bought for my old Z3M Roadster that may fit (no idea where it is at the moment though) but that might be no longer than yours.
You could replace item 22 in the diagram with a longer pipe made up to fit (copper pipe with two male connections)

Just re-read it. Are you trying to remove the clutch switch and metal pipe too? I don't think your new pipe will be long enough if you are trying to do that hence your problem?

There is a t-piece supplied that is for the clutch switch, but it is meant to be optional. I intend to fit it, but the hose still wont reach. It should go direct from master to the 'plug in pipe'. The hose is way too long if the metal pipe is left in and would foul on the cover. It looks like it should all work but comes up short. The hoses you have listed are OEM, I believe the braided hose covers both cars, the only difference being the t-piece connector. I am working by hearsay, never a good idea, but I am not daft and quite handy with spanners. So I can filter good advice from bad.

It may be the supplied hose is just wrong, which looks increasingly possible, but it has the right connections confused

cheers for any advice

Sorted. It was the wrong hose. I had one for a six speed box. The clutch switch is for a six speed, and what I thought was the switch is just a union. There is no electrical connection. I also called the slave the master so sorry for confusing anyone. Correct hose just goes from what looks like clutch switch union, direct into slave cyl. I now have a super smooth clutch, at last.

Well i might have a spare z3m braided clutch hose, after reading this, as i am about to fit a 6 speed e36 M3 gearbox into my m-coupe and bought a z3m braided hose(from Earls) which may or may not fit the new box.

If it doesn't and your e36 one doesn't fit yours, well then maybe we could do a swapbiggrin

5 speed is slightly longer and has one male one female connector, male to slave, female to union.
6 speed has t piece for switch and male at both ends. Although the 6 speed is supposed to fit 5 you just dont use the t piece, but this was not possible with my set up and the hose exchanged was perfect. I suggest you have a good look and measure your hose against existing before stripping it down. They seem to vary
