Cracks in your VANOS??

Ha sanyone seen small hairline cracks on the inside of the plunger? I've got 2 Vanos systems and one has quite large cracks and the other's has smaller cracks. Importantly they both have cracks and I'm tempted to use the one with the smaller cracks.

(on both systems the crack are only on one side and don't seem to propagate to the other side where there are strengthening ribs). I have photos if anyone is interested in having a look. I don't know how to put pics in this post.
