I have been offered an X5 but I would like to see what you lot think.

Right here's the deal.

2001 X5 4.4i Sport, 45k, FBMWSH one owner from 3 month old, previous was a Director of BMW UK.

Its got loads of kit, TV, Sat Nav, and all that, in Silver.

It has been in storage for the past 12 months, great condition, 12mths MOT and TAX

So the question is - what's it worth?

Hmm, this is a tricky one, and prices are on the way down, imho.

Does it have widescreen satnav, and is it DVD or cd based?

What other extras, heated seats, sun roof, bluetooth?

There are loads out there, and the 4.4i has taken quite a hit recently.

I picked up a "53" with 70k for 11k (with a part ex), so i'd say £9k would be a better price for you.

Thanks,

Its not the widescreen, only a 4:3. It has the upgraded stereo but still has a tape player. I am not sure if the Sat Nav is CD or DVD.

Extras, not sure. It has 19in alloys, running boards, no sunroof, uprated headlights, heated sports wheel and seats.

Its all sealed, and looks brand new. I am just in two minds.

What are the running costs like?

If its the 4:3 satnav, then it will cost a lot to upgrade, as its different tv unit etc.

IMHO the 4:3 can make the interior look a little dated, but thats all done to personal taste.

Its sounds like its a Sport model, and there are a lot of silver ones out there. It depends on how much the history/age of the car means to you, but it does sounds like a good example.

If you are not bothered about upgrading the nav, then its probably a good buy, considering the miles, but i'd suggest aiming towards the 9k mark, so limit the damage to your pocket

my average mpg is 16, but thats town driving only.

Don't forget you'll lose the analogue TV signal in a few years. You'll need a digital solution if it isn't already.

The car dealers will be along in due course but £11k sounds very expensive to me for a 2001 car.

Go on condition, yes £11K isn't rip there arm off cheap but if it is as nice as you say it will be well worth the £2K premium.

There are alot of 2001 4.4i around and alot of them are complete sters!

Actually, if it's the MKIII nav (female voice) then the widescreen is just plug and play along with the DVD drive in the boot. Example here for under 300 quid.... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BMW-E53-X5-Sat-Nav-Monitor-w...

I'm thinking about updating to the widescreen as someone the other day described mine as looking like 'my first tv'. lol smile
