Hello all, I'm a little confused here at present. I am servicing the car and want to reset the service lights but I've got both a 20 pin connector in the engine bay and a OBD2 in the dashboard. Which one will correct for resetting the service indicators?

Car is a '99 740iL.

There was an overlap period, some cars, like yours has both for when they changed from the older circular ones to the OBD11. Both will work in your car.

I did wonder that. Lots of the reset tools state upto 2000 or from 1998 onwards. Thanks.

Reset tool? A paper clip on pin7 for a few seconds - google it.

I have seen this method but I'm a little reluctant to mess around with a bit of wire in the port tbh. For £12 I wouldn't want to chance it.
